Project description

The three parts of the project are summarized as follows: 

  • Identify the hotspots for the distribution of the microplastics in the worldwide marine litter
  • Determine a model that quantifies the fate of the microplastics from an emission compartment to a receiving compartment
  • Develop algorithms to quantify the environmental mechanisms and thus, the environmental fate of microplastics in the marine environment

Project description

My Ph.D. thesis aims to simulate the interaction between microplastic particles and marine food webs. To achieve this goal, the project will require a sound methodology for microplastic particle inventory in such a way that can be effective in pinpointing the probable fate of marine microplastics.
